Teach A Member to Brew Event
The January Teach a Member to Brew Event went well. Ed McDemott, Carl Perry and I brewed the Rasputin Imperial Stout for the barrel fill on January 28th. We had a good time. Drank a few brews, ate some homemade chili, and talked about homebrewing. The next teach a member to brew event will most likely be in March after the winter weather starts to clear up.
For those of you who what to develop your homebrewing skills there is no better way than to brew with an experienced club brewer. Signup sheets will be available at the meetings for anyone interested in attended. You can also contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or at email@example.com.
2017 Seven City Brewers Events in Planning
We are working on several ideals for events that we think you all might like to participate in:
Brewers Event: Where we brew the same recipe using different techniques. We would present these brews to the club at a meeting for tasting and they will choose the one with the best flavor and style. If we plan well we should be able to enter these brews into the HRBC competition and get a BJCP certified judges to score the brews. If interested in participating let Larry Lentz or I know.
Brew Ridge Trail Tour: Looking at Friday April 21st where we get club members together and go visit Breweries in the Charlottesville region of Virginia. Check out the Brew Ridge Trail website at http://brewridgetrail.com .Transportation arrangements will depend on the number of club members who want to go and how many volunteers we have to drive. We will see what it would cost for the club to rent a van. Signup sheets will be available at our next meeting if you are interested in going or you can contact me. The tour date is flexible, if anyone is interested in going but I need to make reservations as soon as possible if we need to rent a van.
National Homebrewers Conference: Planning has started for the club to participate in the National Homebrewers Conference in Minneapolis Minnesota. The conference date is June 15th through June 17th. A BNA-12 preconference get together (party) sponsored by The Brewing Network will most likely be on June 14th. I have started a Seven City Brewers 2017 American Homebrewers Convention face book group and have started posting planning information. If interested in going contact me.
Seven City Brewers Web Site Update
I am developing a new web site for the Seven City Brewers using Wix web builder software. The Wix web builder does not requires computer coding skills and is relatively easy to use. I have the website about 90% complete. I hope to have it published with our existing domain name and online in the near future. I will let you all know via face book when it is up and running.
