Meeting & Events
We held our monthly meeting at Traditions Brewing Company in Newport News on March 9th. This meeting was unique in that we held a Co-meeting with the Smithfield HAMS (Hop & Malt Society). The Smithfield HAMS normally hold their meetings in Smithfield. We socialized, shared brews, talked about homebrewing and made new friends.
The clubs barrel fill on March 5th went well and now the Old Rasputin Imperial Ale is aging until August.
Club Meeting: Our next club meeting is April 13th, 2017 at John Allen’s Pavilion from 7 PM to 9 PM. The Allen House is located at 510 14th Street, Virginia Beach, 23451. Parking is across the street in the Cooke Elementary School parking lot.

Learn To Brew With an Experienced Brewer: I am looking for 4 or 5 experienced homebrewers who what to share their brewing talents to help other club members develop their homebrewing skills. There is no better way to learn the proper way to brew then from watching and helping an experienced club brewer. We can plan around your brewing schedule and I am willing to show up and help out. I would like to have at least one Learn to Brew Event monthly. If you would like to volunteer your talents, you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, at email@example.com or by cell phone at (757) 576-1755.
2017 Seven City Brewers Challenge: I am in the process of finalizing the plan and have picked a Pickelhaube Marzen recipe to brew. If you think you are up for the Challenge, I am looking for a few good brewers to participate in a heads up brewing Challenge. We all use the same recipe and use our own individual brewing skills, techniques, and equipment. I will be posting the Challenge on our Face Book page soon.
Brew Ridge Trail Tour: I have decided to cancel the club event for now. If there is any interest in the future, we can try again.
National Homebrewers Conference: We currently have 5 club members going to the National Homebrewers Conference in Minneapolis Minnesota. The conference date is June 15th through June 17th. We have a Seven City Brewers 2017 American Homebrewers Convention Face Book group that contains planning information. If interested in going contact me.
Seven City Brewers Web Site: Our club’s new web site is online and I am updating and adding information to in on a continuous basis. The website is open to the public but the club’s Newsletter is for members only. I have reserved this area for our club members and it is currently setup to allow you to provide comments to our newsletters and blogs. You will need to sign up and be authorized access to this information. You will be notified by Email when you have access to login. Our intentions are to stop sending out Gmail’s with Meeting Minutes and Newsletter attachments and to only notify you when they are available for review.
Save the Date: First Saturday in May (May 6th 2017) is National Homebrew Day. We are planning on brewing as a club at HBUSA Norfolk and/or HBUSA Hampton. Dust off your brewing pots/rigs and come out, promote, and brew with the club. Homebrews to share are always welcomed.
