Seven City Brewers June 2017 Newsletter & Events

June 21, 2017

July Meeting is Wednesday July 13th, 2017 from 7 PM to 9 PM at Bull Island Brewing Company. Bull Island Brewing Company is located at 758 Settlers Landing Road, Hampton, VA 23669. Come out enjoy the waterfront and talk homebrew.

The Hop & Habanero Party with Pepper lovers Club was a good time. We saw several club members that we haven’t seen for a while. I will post photos of the party on our web site. The Seven City Brewers brought 7 kegs of homebrew and several of our members entered the Drunken Crock Pot Challenge.

Our own Seven City Brewer Luke Dobbs won the Drunken Crock Pot Challenge. Luke received a 2018 club membership of his choice, a trophy, and bragging rights for a year. Luke won with his Rubin Chowder containing corn beef, sauerkraut, brown ale, and Ancho chile peppers. Luke is our first Seven City Brewer Member for 2018.

The National Homebrewers Convention held on June 15th – 17th in Minneapolis Minnesota was a HOOT. We had five Seven City Brewers attend that represented our club. Not only did we drink beer at the convention, visit local breweries, some of us even attended the educational seminars. If you missed this year’s convention, next year’s convention is in Portland Oregon June 28th to June 30th.

Larry Lentz and Tim Rouse were in the final round of the National Homebrewers Competition. There were 1,134 entries judged during the final round with 3,530 total participating brewers. Although they didn’t place in the final round we are Very Proud of them.

Improve Your Brewing Skills With an Experienced Brewer: We have several experienced club brewers who have agreed to help our club members improve their homebrewing skills. If you would like want to brew with an experienced club home brewer email me at
