Whoa! We had 12 crock pots full of chili with each one of them competing to earn the convened Chili Cook of Award. Everyone at the meeting got a chance to eat all the chili they wanted and to vote for their favorite. When the votes were tallied up Alisha & Jason Erfle where the clear winners of the Chili Cook Off. Larry presented the $60.00 cash award to Alisha & Jason.
Congratulation Alisha & Jason!
Oh No! We had 12 brewers enter the Best Beer Contest. I facilitated the competition by keeping everyone moving through the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Finals. This contest was a fast pace three round elimination.
Quarter Final Winners: Rafael Corredor with his Chocolate Hazelnut Porter, Fred Baker with the 7CB Barrel Fill Belgian Quad, Marck Weiss with his Russian Imperial Stout and Tim Rouse with his New England Pale Ale.
Semi Final Winners: Marck Weiss and Tim Rouse.
Finals and Winner of the Best Beer Contest: Tim Rouse
Fred presented the $60.00 cash award to Tim and thanked Tim for his outstanding New England Pale Ale!
Tim’s Response, “this was just the tail end running’s from an English Barleywine, then double dry hopped with copious amounts of Mosaic and Simcoe hops to the style of a New England Pale Ale. It was super fresh, plus it smelled and tasted like orange and guava/mango candy with a super soft mouthfeel and residual bitterness.”
How can we compete against a beer like this? I now know what I am going to do when I get my Barleywine share out of the barrel.
I am adding copious amounts of Mosaic and Simcoe hops.
